Terms of Use

Payky began as a hackathon project and remains experimental software under active development. This applies to the whole website, including profiles, personal links, payment details, QR codes, and payment links. Features may contain bugs or security vulnerabilities, display incorrect or outdated information, lose data, or become unavailable.

You decide whether Payky is suitable for your needs and use it at your own risk, subject to the legal rights preserved below. Keep independent copies of important information and another way to share your payment details. Do not rely on Payky as your only record of a payment or your only way to receive payments.

Payky lets users connect with Bitkit or Pubky Ring, publish payment methods to Pubky-backed storage, and share a public page so other people can choose how to pay them.

Payky is a publishing and linking tool. It does not custody funds, execute payments on your behalf, or act as a bank, exchange, broker, escrow agent, or fiduciary.

A profile, username, QR code, or listed payment method is not verification of a person's identity or an endorsement of that person, their business, or their payment provider. Payky does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.

You sign in with a Pubky identity key you hold in Bitkit, Pubky Ring, or another compatible app. There is no Payky password to reset. If you lose access to your key and have no usable backup or recovery method, Payky cannot restore your access. Never enter a private key or recovery phrase into this website or any other website.

Payky does not receive your Pubky identity's private key. When you connect, you grant Payky limited permission to publish and manage your public payment methods under your Pubky identity and, if you choose a username, publish proof of your username claim. These permissions do not authorize payments.

Review the permissions shown by your identity app before approving a connection. You can end your Payky session by signing out. Where supported, you can also use your identity app's connection settings to review and revoke access.

People can pay you using details or links shown on your Payky page. The payment goes from their wallet or account to yours. Payky is not a party to that payment, does not hold the funds, and cannot refund, reverse, or recover a payment. You are responsible for checking the destination, amount, currency, and network before paying or asking someone else to pay.

Incorrect addresses, networks, amounts, or recipient details can result in loss. Cryptocurrency payments may be irreversible. Currency conversions and exchange rates shown by Payky are estimates and may differ from the rate, fees, or amount applied by your payment provider. Check the final payment details before confirming.

Payky cannot guarantee that a recipient will deliver goods, services, or a refund. Contact the recipient or relevant payment provider about payment status, refunds, disputes, or recovery options. Their rules and any applicable legal rights determine what remedies are available.

You are responsible for your own use of the service, including:

• keeping your devices, credentials, recovery information, and wallet backups secure;
• reviewing the permissions you approve when connecting an app or identity;
• making sure published payment details are accurate, current, and yours or ones you are authorized to use;
• complying with applicable laws, sanctions, and payment-network rules; and
• independently checking the recipient, destination, asset, network, amount, and fees in your wallet or payment provider before authorizing a payment, even if those details were filled in by a Payky link or QR code.

You may choose one available username per Pubky identity. Usernames are permanent, cannot be transferred, and are not reassigned to another identity. Your existing identity-based payment link continues to work. Choosing a name does not verify your real-world identity or give you rights to another person's name or brand. Some names are reserved for the service. Do not use usernames to impersonate or mislead others.

Payment methods, profile details, and invoice-style request links you publish through Payky are intended to be public or shareable. You should not publish confidential or sensitive information unless you are comfortable making it available to anyone who can access the relevant page or link.

Never publish passwords, private keys, recovery phrases, or other credentials. Public information may be copied, indexed, or retained by others, so removing it from your page may not remove existing copies.

Payky relies on third-party and network services, including Pubky infrastructure, Vercel, Neon, CoinGecko, and the payment apps or websites you choose to open. Those services are outside Payky's control and may have their own terms, privacy policies, fees, and availability limits. Compatibility with a wallet, app, network, or payment method may change. You are responsible for reviewing the terms of any service you choose to use.

You may not use Payky to:

• publish fraudulent, unlawful, abusive, or misleading payment information;
• interfere with the service, bypass security controls, or attempt unauthorized access;
• introduce malware, automated abuse, or denial-of-service traffic; or
• violate the rights of Payky, its users, or third parties.

Payky may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We do not guarantee that the service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Payky is provided "as is" and "as available," without express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the service will meet your requirements or that information displayed through it will always be accurate, complete, current, or secure.

These exclusions apply only where the law allows them. They do not replace or reduce any mandatory rights or guarantees you have under applicable law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Payky and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, business opportunity, or digital assets arising out of or related to your use of the service.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. This includes liability for intentional misconduct or gross negligence where applicable law prohibits its exclusion or limitation. Your mandatory consumer and data-protection rights remain unaffected. The risk notices and responsibility statements above are subject to these protections.

We may suspend or terminate access to Payky if we believe your use violates these terms, creates risk for the service or other users, or is otherwise unlawful or abusive.

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version here and revise the effective date above. Where required by law, we will provide advance notice of material changes and obtain your agreement. Changes do not remove rights that have already arisen under an earlier version of these terms.
